Tania V. Sotelo, Esq., Of Counsel for Mantell, Prince & Reynolds, P.C., has nearly two decades of legal experience and focuses her practice in estate planning, wills, trusts, probate, and estate and trust administration.
While no one can minimize the grief involved at a loved one’s passing, Ms. Sotelo strives to eliminate the administrative hassle by working with clients to plan a smooth transition of their assets at death to their desired beneficiaries. As different laws apply to different types of assets, Ms. Sotelo examines each asset with the client to determine the best method for them to provide for their loved ones at the client’s passing while allowing the client maximum control over their assets during their lifetimes. Ms. Sotelo has extensive experience with all types of trusts, including revocable, irrevocable, insurance, generation-skipping, and charitable trusts. She uses that experience to meet the estate planning goals of individuals and families in a tax-efficient manner. She prepares and administers family limited partnerships and LLCs, Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs), installment sales, sales to intentionally defective grantor truss (IDGTs), and Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs). Ms. Sotelo has experience dealing with the Internal Revenue Service on behalf of clients seeking equitable relief and refunds. She regularly guides families through the probate process and provides counsel to individual and corporate trustees, personal representatives, and other fiduciaries as well as individual and charitable beneficiaries.
Ms. Sotelo is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Coral Gables and is a board member of the Florida Lawyers Network – Coral Gables Chapter. Ms. Sotelo previously practiced at several firms in Miami, including Shutts & Bowen LLP.
